pAN-o-FILt (SoftSynth Additive Phased Distortion Bass Synthesizer)

pAN-o-FILt

Analog bass additive synthesizer with 4 PD-oscillators, parallel two stereo LP-filters and joysticks for pitch and cutoff.

“Panofilter” (or “panoramic filtering”) was my second synthesizer that I created in SynthMaker(с), and then also in SynthEdit(с). Initially, it was a bulky green monster with hefty cut and resonance handles, reminiscent of a phallic symbol. At first it was a simple polyphonic analog synthesizer with a couple of three waveforms and 2 filters that cut off the frequency of the signal coming from the oscillators in the left and right channels. But recently, I again dug up its structure in my home archive, completely redesigned the interface and made it a bass synthesizer, as a competitor to Novation Bass Station(с) or Moog Taurus(с) (although, of course, "the competitor from him is very dubious, heh, because of its rather clumsy device and simple presets).

Technical characteristics and main features:
  • 4 phase-distorted analog oscillators (with tone and modulation depth controls) combined into left and right groups
  • 2 parallel stereo SV filters from the standard SynthEdit(с) kit (with low-pass audio output)
  • 2 envelopes ADSR (for amplitude and filtration)
  • 4 frequency analyzers separately for each oscillator + 2 frequency analyzers for each filter + phasoscope for each of two groups of oscillators (left and right)
  • 2 joysticks for dynamically changing the tonality of both groups of oscillators (left) and the frequency cutoff of filters (right). (Please note that they are not like the joysticks in my Quadrovectro synthesizer, because they return to the center if you release them with the mouse or stylus. Keep in mind that the tonality and pan changes diagonally, from the upper left to the lower right each joystick)
  • Settings for monophonic \ polyphonic (two-voice) mode and pre-release mechanism, as well as portamento control.
  • A standard on-screen piano keyboard with 4 octaves and a 5-octave DO key.
  • Bold, live, analog, multi-layered sound with dynamic control
  • Clear and logical visualization
  • Two-voice polyphony, as in Arp Odissey(с) and Soviet Polivox(с).

Update November 2020!!!
pAN-o-FILt x64 VST2 & 3!!!
Slightly modified interface (elements are replaced by new versions and are located in new places)
Several new possibilities for creating sounds (in particular, overload / distortion and preset menus)
Created in Synth Edit 1.4 (with new, more realistic piano keyboards, frequency analyzers and x64)

My sincere thanks to Jeff McClintock for the Cinestar SynthEdit 1.1850 Unicode VSTi programming environment. (Copyright 2000-2009 Jeff McClintock, https://www.synthedit.com/)

Attention!
  1. Work with this synthesizer at a low volume on your computer !!! (for example, at volume level 10, if you are using Windows 8-10) It does not have its own volume control, so initially it sounds very loud !!!
  2. During its launch in host or sequencer, this synthesizer extracts files with the extension * .SEP and * .SEM. These files are NOT malware, but are separate synthesizer modules. They DO NOT harm your system. Scanned ESET Smart Security 13, no malware found.
